About Laura Barlow

Laura joined Pediatric Orthopedic Associates in April 2015.  Before joining POA, Laura worked as an RN on the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders unit at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston for 4 years where she cared for children with various blood disorders and cancers and children who underwent bone marrow transplants. Laura worked as a charge and resource nurse and acted as a primary preceptor and mentor to new graduate nurses. While at CHOA, Laura attended the End-of-Life Nursing Consortium where she became a pediatric palliative care trainer. She is a Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse and an APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider. Laura volunteers as a summer camp counselor for Camp Infinity where she developed a passion for children with neuromuscular and skeletal disorders.

Laura grew up in St. Marys, Georgia where she was a competitive cheerleader and participated in gymnastics and dance. She attended the University of Georgia and received her Bachelors of Science in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Ga. She later completed the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program and obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, an honor society of nursing, the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, and a national and Georgia member of the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses.
