Pediatric Orthopaedic Associates is proud to offer providers dedicated to the management of Legg-Calve-Perthes disease. Perthes disease is an ill-understood disorder of the hip joint in which part of the hip deteriorates due to insufficient blood supply. In managing Perthes disease, the goals of treatment include minimizing deformity of the femoral head, maintaining range of motion, and keeping the hip contained within the hip socket. To achieve these goals, your doctor may use casting or bracing to keep your child's leg in certain positions, while using X-rays to follow regrowth of bone. In some patients, surgery may be required. The physicians at Pediatric Orthopaedic Associates provide a comprehensive approach to the management of Perthes disease including the most up-to-date surgical, non-surgical, and medical modalities. Additionally, we continue to stay very involved in furthering the understanding of this difficult condition through our clinical research program.
