About Melissa Hosea

Melissa joined Pediatric Orthopaedic Associates in October 2012.  She moved to the Atlanta area from Birmingham, AL.  She brings with her a plethora of experience and skills.  She is a Family Nurse Practitioner who has worked in many facets of healthcare.  Melissa has a long history of working in pediatric surgery as a registered nurse.  

Melissa received her nursing degree from Samford University and The University of Alabama at Birmingham.  She worked as a registered nurse for 9 years, predominantly in pediatric surgery.  She received her Master’s of Science in Nursing degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is also a RNFA (registered nurse first assist).

Prior to her employment with Pediatric Orthopaedic Associates, Melissa worked in Women’s Health.  She was a first assist in OB/GYN surgeries.  She also worked as an adjunct clinical nursing instructor at The University of Alabama at Birmingham for BSN and MSN students.  She is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with pediatric patients again.

Melissa is happily married with four children.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading and exercising.  She enjoys spending quality time with her family.
