About Taylor Surin, CPNP
Taylor is thrilled to be joining Pediatric Orthopaedic Associates in February 2017. She graduated with honors in December of 2016 with her degree in Master's of Science in Nursing from Georgia State University, and is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Throughout the graduate program, her clinical experiences consisted of Primary Care at Wellstar Pediatrics, Orthopaedics with Pediatric Orthopaedic Associates, and Cardiology and Pulmonology at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. She has always had a passion for pediatrics, but it was through her clinical rotation with POA that sparked her love and passion for orthopaedics and sports medicine.
Prior to obtaining her graduate degree, Taylor worked as a Registered Nurse at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite on the 1st floor, the designated neurology/neurosurgery unit. In her six years at Scottish Rite, she cared for patients with many diagnoses and disorders. Among the most frequently seen disorders were cerebral palsy, spina bifita, hydrocephalus, brain tumors, epilepsy, head injuries, concussions, and migraines. Additionally, she gained experience caring for many patients with asthma, sickle cell anemia, leukemia, and scoliosis, among several others. On the 1stfloor, she was recognized as a resource level nurse and often filled the roles of charge nurse, preceptor, and mentor. She holds certifications in Basic Life Support, First Aid, and Pediatric Advanced Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS). As a volunteer, she spent three consecutive summers as a camp nurse at Camp Carpe Diem, an experience she will forever cherish!
Taylor was born in Carrollton, Texas (a suburb of Dallas), and relocated with her family to the Atlanta area at the age of eleven. She began playing fastpitch softball at a very young age, and continued to play at the varsity level at Harrison High School in Kennesaw, GA. Additonally, she ran track her freshman year, and participated in the sports medicine program and played recreational basketball throughout her high school career. She went on to obtain her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree at Kennesaw State University in 2011, and in 2013, she married her high school sweetheart, Alex. They currently reside in Kennesaw with their 3 year old German Shepherd, Hemi. In her spare time, she volunteers with her neighborhood HOA, loves spending time with her wonderful family and friends, watching her brother play collegiate level baseball, taking Hemi to the dog park, going to the gym, cooking, and gardening.
